Energy Xtreme’s Independence Package is a breakthrough in vehicle power management and fuel efficiency.
The Independence Package is an idle-reduction technology that allows a vehicle to run electrical components and the heating system without ever turning the engine on.
The power management system combines Energy Xtreme’s idle-reduction technology and Espar’s heater that powers a vehicle’s entire electrical load and heating unit without engine power on.
This innovation idea began, according to Ross Johnson, vice president of product development for Energy Xtreme, when the company conducted market research and found that fleet vehicles are idle for up to four to six hours a day. While idle, fleet vehicles leave the engine running to use electronics or tools plugged into the vehicles.
Based on this research Energy Xtreme designed systems that are hooked and charged by the alternator. They offer two idle-reduction models, the Law Enforcement Series and the Utility Series.
Law Enforcement Series
With the Law Enforcement Series, for example, police officers can run their laptops, radios, sirens, lights and other electrical equipment inside of their car without having to waste gas by letting the engine run while the car is idle.
Johnson said the system can run for about four to six hours with under a full electrical load and in the event that an officer overuses the system and completely drains it, the system comes with a push-button jumpstart function that allows the office to start up the car without having to rely on a jump start by someone else.
The Law Enforcement Series is designed to power direct current (DC) electronics, which is the normal electronic system for cars.
Utility Series
The Utility Series works the same as the Law Enforcement Series, but can also power alternating current (AC) electronics, which is essentially anything that can be plugged into an outlet in a house. This feature allows the vehicle to operate power tools typically found on utility fleet vehicles.
System Flexibility
The Independence Package can be charged while the car is running or the systems can be plugged in at night when the vehicle is not in use. Both series can also be upgraded to The Polar Package, which comes with an Espar Heater Systems heater that can run while only using a little bit of gasoline.
Johnson also reported that Energy Xtreme and Espar Heater Systems partnered earlier this year to extend Energy Xtreme’s technology to use in cold temperature functioning vehicles.
This is an innovation that reduces fuel consumption – thus helping companies’ off-set their carbon footprint while providing significant fuel cost savings.
